Wildlife

A good place for a break on the long drive through the mountains, is at Manning Park Resort.

The Ravens hang around for handouts from all the passer bys.

The Crow is real, the bear is wood but looks upset about the collar and hat of snow.

River and Road

I am posting a series of pictures taken through the windsheild while driving of the road conditions this time of year and views off to the side of the road. The pictures were taken on our trip to Maple Ridge for our Christmas with family.
Here, the highway and Similkameen River are side by side, the river is partly frozen over this high into the mountains.

Winter Driving

This section of road at Allison Pass has the poorest conditions of the trip through the mountains, just here the road is 4 lanes but the traffic hugs the one lane each way. everyone slows down a bit and stays back from the vehicle ahead.
After twenty minutes the road improves as we drop down from the pass and normal driving resumes.
The night before there was a big snowfall and the snowplows were working to clean up.
